Ink cartridge firm hit with L10k packaging waste fine

Ink cartridge manufacturer Dynamic Cassette International has been fined more than L10,000 for failing to comply with packaging waste legislation.
Dynamic had not registered with the Environment Agency or compliance scheme during 2007 and 2008 and avoided paying L2,562 in that time.
Boston Magistrates' Court fined the firm L8,000 and ordered it to pay L2,058 in costs.
In a statement, Dynamic, which represented itself in the case, recognised the error, but said it had always been committed to recycling.
”One employee's misinterpretation of the rules lead to this unfortunate situation which has now been rectified. Dynamic was able to show conclusively that it is able to support recycling as one of its core business commitments.”
Dynamic is involved in the research and development and manufacturing of ink cartridges, ink formulation and packaging design.
