Xerox introduces new wide format printer

Xerox announced the release of the Xerox 6279 Wide Format printer on Tuesday. The 6279 is a black and white printer that can be configured to include a copier and a scanner.

Xerox plans on marketing the 6279 - which can produce several 24” x 36” prints a minute – to architectural, engineering and construction companies and commercial print shops by allowing them to choose the features that will fit their business needs.

The 6279 is available as a printer, copier/ printer with on-board scanner or an all-in-one with Xerox's Wide Format Scan System. With an on-board scanner, the 6270 can simultaneously print and scan six images per second.

The 6279 Wide Format printer features 600 x 600 dpi printing (and scanning), multiple kinds of print media, a 15” color touch-screen and an 80 GB hard disk.

The Xerox 6279 Wide Format Printer will be available for order starting in the fourth quarter of 2008 in North America and Europe. The U.S. retail price starts at approximately $23,000.
