Japanese Toy Maker to Launch Camera with Built-in Printer

Tomy Co Ltd will release the xiao TIP-521, a digital camera with a built-in printer, Nov 28, 2008.
From the viewpoint of quality and reliability, however, the camera is probably on a satisfactory level because the hardware was manufactured by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd of Taiwan. The printing technology was licensed by US venture Zink Imaging Inc, which also licensed the technology to Polaroid Corp.
”Our goal is to incorporate a printer into all kinds of devices,” Zink Imaging said. ”Although our business is still small, we hope to attain that goal with the help of companies that agreed with our vision.”
The expected retail price of the main unit is approx US$350, and the special sticker printer paper is priced at approx US$8.86 per package.
