Kyocera Mita to open new printer factory in Vietnam

Kyocera Mita is expected to open a printer production factory in Hai Phong in October 2012 after agreeing an investment deal with the city’s People’s Committee.
The factory will produce printers and multifunctional copiers, and will be based in the city’s Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park. The factory will cover 20 hectares and will receive investment of over $200 million.
Construction is expected to begin this October, with the plant expected to be made operational in October 2012. Once up and running, the OEM states that it will produce an annual capacity of 150,000 individual units, which is expected to increase to 450,000 in 2016.
The factory is also expected to generate jobs for 5,000 local workers, with the city proving to be a foreign investment centre over the past six months. Projects worth $39.6 million have been begun in the past half year, and the area’s production capital for such projects now reaches $4.6 billion.
