Hewlett-Packard Experiences a 2% Decrease in Revenue in its Third Quarter

While Hewlett-Packard's financial report in the third quarter of its fiscal year was promising they did experience a slight decrease in their net revenue of two percent. For the year their revenue was down 19 percent. In light of this slight loss Hewlett-Packard is very optimistic about its future, and has released several new printer models onto the market just in time for the back-to-school rush. When its financial reports are broken down into sections the company did see an overall downturn in profits, however there were several departments that experienced an increase in sales.

Hewlett-Packard's Services Business department enjoyed a dramatic increase of 93 percent for a total of $8.5 billion for the quarter. Their personal systems group also boasted a two percent increase in unit shipments; however they did express an 18 percent decrease in revenue. While most of their departments did experience a down turn, their overall revenue only decreased one percent for total revenue of $670 million for the quarter.

All of these financial numbers may sound impressive to the average consumer; the fact is that Hewlett-Packard is in a promising position for the future. They have not experienced much of a decrease in revenue and have introduced several new models of printers in both the commercial and consumer markets. This is very encouraging information for investors and for consumers who are benefiting as reflected in the prices of the products that have been introduced to the market.
